Is it me or has the laughter track much more obtrusive in the repeats? Has it been added or made louder? I taped the first 2 series when they first came out, watched them to death and then taped over them last year so I can't compare. I don't remember the canned laughter being so obvious before, or is that because I am used to watching series 3, the Office, Phoenix Nights etc and have forgotten what canned laughter is like?

You know, I flipped over to it the other nite and straightaway I noticed the canned laughter.  I remember thinking 'I don't remember there being a laugh track on League of Gentlemen'.  But then I thought it must just be me.  Maybe not!
I have the first 2 Series on DVD and there is definitely canned laughter, As you say, maybe you're just used to the format of the other shows now.
The third series never had the impact of the first two because it didn't have canned laughter, the new film will probably be along similar lines.

I wouldn't have thought the laughter was 'canned', as I could never imagine the LoG team being that corney and allowing it.

With or without, it's still an excellent and well written series.

Good point, BDW. There is, of course, a difference between the 'canned' laughter of old and a genuine laughalong. I don't think the laughter that went with Harvey's 'mecturation' last night could have been anything other than an audience genuinely watching it for the first time. So it is just me (and nicola_red) then, which makes me feel better.
