Try Black Cohosh available from Holland & Barratt.
I found it helped a lot. Also, eat plenty of seeds like sunflower they do a 'sprinkle mix' of mixed seeds to put onto your cereal. And fresh veg and salad, wholegrain rice, etc.
In countries with this type of diet the women don't suffer like we do. Exercise helps as well.
I used all of the above and found they helped a great deal.
Not sure about hot flashes.............but HRT is effective in the treatment of hot flushes.
it does help with hot flashes (the american term for them) and hot flushes, but bear in mind that when you come off hrt you'll get them again. they happen while your hormones are changing and once they've settled down, so will the flushes/flashes. it's worth bearing with it for a while, they get worse before they get better, and for most women they stop altogether once things have settled. as has already been said, some supplements work for some ladies, it's just a matter of finding what works for you. and exercise really does help too, not only with the flushes/flashes but with the weight gain that can happen round this time too.
best of luck.
Sorry to "upset" anyone but the hot flushes/flashes can go on forever. I know women in their 70s/80s who still get them occassionaly. I had a hysterectomy 27 years ago,(I`m 56 now) was on HRT for a while, but had to stop. I`ve taken natural remedies which do help, but the damn flushes are still here. Oh the joys of being a woman lol.
it's no fun is it beejaybee? i think the thing for ladies just starting on this though, is to remember that for MOST women they do stop, it's the unfortunate few who get them into their 70s and 80s.
I wish I could offer some advice,MWB.....but I could count on one hand how many flushes I had. I seemed to sail thru it all.......well,except for being a moody cow for 5 years. x
Take soya capsules you can get them on line at zip-vit and drink soya milk. This worked for me.

Many women cant take HRT due the increased risk of breast cancer. Black Cohosh help me. You could try sage tablets or tincture as well. At night, keep a fan going or a window open wide. Im post menopausal and still get night sweats that keep me awake. Its a flipping nuisance MWB.
what they all said MWB ^^^ go to your doctor and ask about getting hrt..you may have to try a few different types before you find the one that suits you best. good luck
