any one know what the longest running tv serial would be, im guessing Coronation Street,

No, "As the world turns" in the US. It also has the longest serving actor in the same role. Corrie is second on both counts, being 4 years younger and ken barlow.

We do however have the record for the longest police series (Taggart, followed by the bill), the longest childrens show (blue peter), the longest comedy (summer wine) and the longest programme with the same presenter (shy at night)
