Does anyone know how to get rid of the 'bloom' left on crystal glasses after being put in the dishwasher please?
I know the answer is not to put them in there in the first place - but.....! anybody know anything that will actually remove it and turn the glass clear again? Thanks

If it just dishwasher residue, then you can try filling them with a solution of vinegar and water, leaving for a while then washing by hand with washing up liquid, rinsing with cold water afterwards.

Unfortunately, it could also be scratch marks in the surface of the glass caused by the action of the water and the detergent, in which case they are not rescuable.
It is sort of scratch marks - though much more subtle than the above suggestion, and definitely irreversible.
It is caused by the etching (fine scratching) action of the detergent on the smooth surface of the glass - a very fine version of etching patterns that one sees engraved on glass surfaces.
Should have added that it is chemical abrasion, not mechanical.

Thanks everyone - I do think that some of it is scratching but some of it is a definite whitish cloudy like stuff that if I scrub hard enough with metal polish I can get off - but then I'm just defeating the object by scratching the surface more! Is this something I can't win on? I do wonder if it is just limescale build up - we do live in a hard water area although we do have our own borehole, If I come up with anything that works I'll post it on
