Having seen young women battened by cops on horses at the poll tax riot this does not surprise me

I saw a longer version on the news earlier where , rather than being 'pelted with bottles' as they said at the time , 1 bottle was thrown to the anger of the protesters .

Will the officer be charged do you think ??

He does'nt appear to be arguing with the police to me, it looks more like he's sitting there saying "what did you do that for?"
I don't think my dad would would ignore a policeman telling him to move on without a word.

You don't know he was ignoring them, though. There was a lot of background noise and the man's physical condition wasn't brilliant. He might have either not heard them, thought they were talking to someone else or something like that.

And even he did ignore them, does that warrant being shoved (and pretty damn hard)? If the police have extra rights and responsibilities as you say, they should be damn well using them better.
The officer responsible has identified himself to his seniors. I wonder whether it was a case of his colleagues being fed up the the sh*t hitting the fan and told him either to admit to it or they would identify him themselves.

I am really very interested in his reasoning behind what he did, as I am sure are the family.

Just one question though, why did it take him so long to admit it was him?
As you said Billu , his personal ID number can identify the one who actually pushed him , the ONE . Why are the general concensus blaming the whole Police Force . On AB there are trolls and nasty ABers , but that doesn't mean we all are .
The policeman was out of order....but, It's not his fault that the man had a heart attack. No one could have predicted that.

The Police Officer only came forward after his image had been broadcast to many millions via TV and the internet.

The video footage was not from an official source or CCTV, it was from a member of the public. There obviously does exist CCTV pictures of much better quality in existence, which have not been made public. There were plenty of photographers around taking still pictures as well. It should have been easy to find out the Officers identity, and it should not have taken a week after this mans death for him to come forward.

For the past week, the Police have been investigating themselves, which may account for why this officers identity has not been discovered until he voluntarily made himself known. The investigation has now been handed to independent investigators.
No I think he'll get away as they usually do.

I'm surprised this has been reported by the mass media, as the police brutality goes on at many demonstrations, yet they always report them as violent demonstrations where many are injured...But if you read the tallies (small print) you will always see the number of civilians injured is hundreds compared to the police injured, so you just have to ask yourself who is injuring who???.
