life cover..............................i'm not asking anyone that but that is what i just asked the nosey cold caller on the phone when he asked me how much i was paying for mine. how do you deal with them?

i tell them i live in a rented house and they always put the phone down

Theres one method i use with sales people,religious nutters and unhelpfull mobile phone workers based in other countrys and thats to Shout through my loudhailer down the telephone.

Just tell them you're part of the TPS (telephone preference service). They usually hang up immediately without even a thanks and goodbye!

Or say, "I'm paying a sh!tload less than I'd be paying you" (and then follow this by a selection of four-letter words of your choice). And hang up.

I ask them to hang on while I answer the door. Then go back to reading the paper.

Mully thing is when I've tried that I've been told that only applies to selling and I'm conducting a survey which isn't against the TPS rules.

Crazycathy dont say that,i used to work as a coldcaller and when folk said they could'nt hear me i used to SHOUT DOWN MY LOUDHAILER DOWN THE TELEPHONE! (yes i used to take my loudhailer everywhere,it was a real great help when trying to talk to the elderly,in pubs and nighclubs and at carnivals football matches and riots!)

Not sure if that's baloney or not Cathy if that's what one of the callers has told you, but to be sure I think Hugh's suggestion is a good one to use LOL (unless you're expecting another call of course!)

No Mully it is true as after I was told it I checked with the TPS and they said yes and there is no service to stop peopel ringing about surveys.
