Everyone go look at "film and TV" thread titled "Who won?" asking about "Hit me baby".  If you refer to the edition that was aired last night, it gets starred out!!! Why?  Because you get the letter T I H S in reverse order and the robot kicks in.  Watch.... "last night'* *** me baby".

AB - SORT IT OUT PLEASE!!!  This is ridiculous.  We are not children.  Auto editing really is just censorship and we're meant to be allowed freedom of speech in the UK.  Please please get your a*se (ooops, I mean bot) in gear!

Love it! But actually some of us are children - the aim is for everyone to be able to use the site (and there seem to be a great many questions that look as if they're homework problems), so I have no problems with profanity being edited out. In this case, of course, the robot has overdone it, but that's an argument for it getting its ears syringed, not for sacking it.

The filter has a variable setting and is obviously set too high. I'm sure that the ABank techies could tweak it a little for us.

I agree with jno that it should be kept as children also use this site.

Touche - there are kids using this.  I didn't ask for him to be sacked actually though - just got into gear!  Maybe he was having a funny day cos it's Sunday! :-)
I used a 10-letter word to describe a watch worn on the wrist and it appeared as asterisks because of a sequence of four letters, starting and ending in "t" wi "wa" in the middle. I agree profanities should be weeded out but come on ABE........

The Editor(s?) does/do have the capacity to "tweak" the filter, as hung6 says. When they first introduced it, it would even star-out Scunthorpe but it doesn't any more. Obviously.)

There are a few I want to test - all these used to be starred-out, but I'm not sure if they all are any more.

A company who produce slimming products and provide weigh-in sessions: Weightwatchers.
THECORBYLOON's suggestion of the formal name of an arm timepiece: Wristwatch.

See they've tweaked the last two, too. So I think tweaking things like "Who'* *** me?" ("Who has beaten me?" shouldn't be a problem. Having said that, I've just realised this is slightly more complicated than the other examples I outlined above as you can't just "allow" a particular word through the filter. Good luck AnswerBank Techies.

I had a strange one, as did jules when we spoke about Rembrandt's Night Watch, when if you put it togther and accidently combined the two words in to **********, the stars fly in. Let's see.

I've just remembered, it wasn't wristwatch, it was a watch you keep in a pocket or "pocket watch" (I had no gap the first time.)
I'll try it wi no gap "***********"

I always have a laugh when I talk about my pet birds cockatiels * and it gets edited out.

Doesn't make me cross, just think it's a giggle.

Also there is a good slimming club called Weightwatchers!

* C0ckatiels

They didn't get edited!
When I mentioned my husband's name (a shortened form for Richard) is was starred.  But surely Tom, Dick and Harry is legendary, almost Shakepearean!!

There's clearly been some tweaking going on!

I love a bit of tweaking now and again.

what about the stopcock for turning off the water

stop

Dear Users,

As jno mentioned, profanity is screened for automatically and we would rather err on the side of caution since children use this site. Harmless posts are sometimes edited by mistake but we would rather that happen then have something illicit get through! Thank you for your patience and understanding.
