well I'm no fan of Labour but our PM is elected. His party is elected and he is elected leader of his party. The leader of the party with an overall majority is the PM that's how it works.

However there is a certain amount of moral Turpiptude among most of our politicians regardless of hue from Town halls to The EU commission et al.

Yes, unlike in the US where people vote for the leader (president) we never vote directly for our prime minister.

We vote for individual MPs, and whichever party gets the most seats, the party leader automatically become PM.

When John Major came into power he was in the same situation as Gordon Brown is now, an "unelected" PM.
