Water Problem in 8 year old

My little cousin who is 8 has been suffering for about 6 weeks now saying it burns when she goes for a wee and her tummy hurts before and after.
She's been to see a GP a couple of times, first time they did a dipstick test and said it was fine and the second they sent a sample to the lab which also came back fine. No signs of any infection picked up.
Her older sister has recurrent water infections but the infection always shows up in tests.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be or how she can help it as the poor little thing's suffering and it's wiping her out.
School or worry doesn't seem to be a problem. If anything she doesn't want to miss school as she'd feel she was missing out on stuff.

Sometimes people wait too long before going to the toilet and then don't fully empty their bladder (which should happen) when they do go to the toilet. I saw this once on a medical documentary when a girl had a fear of toilets, although it's not necessarily caused by that!
Also, maybe the infection had cleared by the time the doctor did the test. Often in adults the problem can clear in 24-48 hrs.
Could also try encouraging her to drink plenty of water, a glass of cranberry juice a day, not anything too sugary/acidic, cotton pants (as opposed to synthetic), that kind of thing, the same you would for an adult. Obviously keep monitoring her too and maybe badger the doctor more!

Keep on taking her back to the GP....try another one in the practice if possible.
An 8 year old shoul dnot have to put up with pain for 6 weeks without a Dr taking notice.
Point out that this has been ging on for some time and ask for a referral to the paeditricians if you continue getting nowhere wit the GP.
It sounds like cystitis to me and it is really painful.....and really only clears up with antibiotics

Difficult problem.
Urinalysis normal...no infection.......NOT Cystitis.
Older sister has bladder problems...true cystitis.....could this be a "sympathy " cry?
Suggest, retest the urine and if it comes back normal. then we are looking at a psychlogical problem
Long shot.....abdominal pain...?appendicits...low grade.

I suggested cranberry juice and cotton knickers. My aunt had considered irritation but she's not changed anything and they are very careful with washing stuff as she suffers with excema and it has recently flared up on the top of her leg again.
Doesn't explain the tummy ache but we had considered if it was irritation causing the pain when weeing.
She doesn't seem to be weeing excessively, about 4 times a day though she could be holding it if it hurts, will try and get her on the phone for a chat later.
We have also considered her worrying about something though she doesn't want to stay off school and has said the only thing bothering her is the water problems and tummy pain and she's keen not to miss school.
The sympathy pain is an interesting thought. Her older sister is now at uni but her younger one who is coming up 6 is a bit of a handful and I wouldn't be surprised if she takes up a huge amount of attention.
