Considering all musical genres and styles, who do you consider to be the best songwriter of the '90s, and why?!

I'l start the ball rolling with elliott smith. Without a doubt he wrote some of the finest songs of all time, and has an amazing voice and guitar technique to match.

Your thoughts please.....

Can't work you out Natalie! One minute you're giving the impression that commercial music is where it's at, then you're praising the great T.Y.

What's it to be. Pop pap, or pure genius?

Anyway, my answer would be Badly Drawn Boy. An excellent lyricist, and a superbly talented musician.

I like pop and pap :-)

Radiohead, Girls Aloud, Smashing Pumpkins, Lionel Richie, Jah Cure, The Pogues, Barrington Levy, George Michael, The Dubliners, Will Young, Christina Aguilera, Jackson 5, Cleopatra, Simply Red, Crowded House, The Streets.  Grime, Hip hop, RnB, rock, reggae, dancehall, funky house, soul, swing.

I listen to just about everything.  Oh, I don't like Usher or Britney.
