have been taking the tablets for 2 weeks and still suffering with an upset stomach. sugar levels are still high. would anyone know how long it will take for my system to adjust to the medication.

Depends on exactly what you're taking the Metformin for. If it's to regulate your blood sugar, it starts working within a short time - a few days to a couple of weeks or so.
If you're taking it for PCOS and fertility problems, it can start working within 3-6 months, but if conception doesn't occur, fertility drugs are also sometimes given.
It has other uses as well, but with either of the above, it can also help with weight loss, as it helps the stomach to absorb less glucose, and the liver to produce less of it.
