Hi puddi :o)

I sowed some basil, parsley and chive seeds a week ago and they have just started to come through except for the parsley. I covered the pots with cling film and they are on a windowsill that has the sun for most of the day. :o)

hi wingnut will clingfilm thanksx
By compost, do you mean soil based? The secret to any good germination of seeds is to assure as much sed to soil contact as possible. If the compost was too coarse, the small seeds may not have contacted the soil as much as required...

Just to say wingnut did what you said, and hey ho this morning a few green shoots came through thanks!!

There aint no weeds in my window sill herb tray stompe!!!
Get yourself an electrically heated propagator, it's not too late. I got one in B&Q, 9-99, about 5 for a small bag of good quality seed and potting compost, and 3 weeks on, I now have 20 Dorset Naga and 4 Red Demon chilli seedlings poking their way up. If I get just 5 chillis per plant, that is a real result.

Yayyy glad it worked for you puddi :o)
