I missed a set of brackets. i meant to type

x= (-b(√(b-4ac))/2a

The a, b and c relate to the coefficients a and b and the constant c for an equation in the form ax + bx + c

If you prefer a video this may help.

how do you get the plus or minus sign?, square root sign?, and squared/cubed little numbers?
Type in Word (using insert symbols where necessary) and then cut and paste into your answerbank posting.
Try it- șŷ as π
What's it useful for:

Your equation is called a quadratic. When a car designer is working out how the suspension springs will bounce. If they were too weak you would carry on bouncing long after they started. If they were made too stiff it would make for a very hard ride. So using this formuala with different values may gives the ideal situation.
Awright
I got a quadratic set of speakers.
