My son who is unemployed wants to lodge with his new girlfriend and "sign on" in another part of the UK where she lives to look for work.Only drawback is the girl is on social would the jobcentre want to know what adress he is at.

of course they would. they would want t know if she has someone living wit her too (if she gets housing benefit) it may not make any difference
You need not make a claim at the nearest Jobcentre Plus office when you make a claim for Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) However, he has to sign on fortnightly and he may at some point be asked to sign on weekly. If he encounters problems due to the distance he has to travel, they will start asking questions.

Also, the Jobcentre where he signs on will refer him for jobs in their area and not the area where he lives. He will have to keep a record of the things he has done to look for work and they will also ask why he is looking for work in another area and not theirs.

He is obliged to notify a change of address as per the condition of receiving JSA and his girlfriend's benefits may also be affected.
Yes, lodging or not, they would be classed as living together and would have to make a joint claim as a couple which is what they are.
