Natasha Richardson, wife of actor Liam Neeson, has died following a skiing accident a few days ago.

Great pity she wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Chances are she would have survived.

Gawd. Skiing can be a dangerous business. Its not appealed to me fortunately
Apparently a very minor fall and she was not travelling at any speed. She got up and was laughing about it and was taken ill an hour later. A helmet may well have saved her, and she was silly not to wear one. But it makes me wonder if we should all wear helmets all of the time in case we have a slight accident and bang our head.

It's very sad. Her family must be devastated.
gawd!

get it together girl
Awww such a shame, I read about this earlier
she's dead it was an accident. Why does that mean a sanctimonious prat like you can have a na na nana na moment becuase she wasn't wearing a lid. Do you creep round hospitals looking for accident victims and then say stupid things about prevention after the event? Congrats Paraffin you get the Geezer Pl0nker of the day award!
Many years ago a friend of mine slipped on sheet ice hidden beneath freshly fallen snow while skiing. The first part of her body to hit the ground was her head. She was airlifted off the slopes to hospital and was in a coma for a day. She came round and recovered fully.

I have been wondering what exactly caused her death when she was laughing and chatting immediately after it happened. My friend was out cold, and so everyone feared the worst.
i must say careering downhill on slippery snow and ice on two planks of wood with no effective brakes is a rather strange pursuit of happiness.............

still, if you are prepared to take that risk..
chrissa1.......This is a typical history of an extradural haematoma (Google it)

"Talking one minute, dead the next."

Classical a head injury (invariably no loss of consciousnes) followed by a period of normality ...."Lucid Interval" lasting for some hours perhaps followed by onset of headaches and drowsiness.

Death may follow if medical treatment (neurosurgical) not available in time.
Its very tragic news. Her family must be devastated and I'm sure everybody on here sends their sympathies to them.

geezer:

You must be one angry individual. Have you ever considered having counselling for your intolerance?
Angry? I don't stand over the dead saying, "well it's your own fault" do I?
I worked in a rehab hospital which included a ward for neuro patients. Sometimes the most insignificant of accidents had the most unbelievably devastating consequences. Its probably just a matter of luck - the poor lady. I feel so very sorry for them all.
