If one loses their job and have a mortgage, is there any help in covering that mortgage or is it hang on till the mortgage company seizes the house.
I know there are many many people now in this position and many more to come, but I am quite ignorant of the benfits system, never having needed to ask for any before, and would like to know in simple terms what can I get and for how long.
Advice is welcome.

You best starting point would be Citizens Advice Bureau. They will be able to tell you about various benefits. Also they can put you in touch with someone who can help negotiate with your Mortgage Company and other creditors. Doing nothing is not an option as that will only make matters worse.

all benefit stuff is here. best of luck x
Please call Christians Against Poverty on 0800 328 0006. They are a national debt counselling charity who work to help people in this situation, regardless of belief or other personal circumstances. They will definitely be able to either help you directly or to refer you to an organisation that can. It is DEFINITELY vital to get help sooner rather than later. I really hope that you manage to get things sorted out.
