Has anyone got a simple way of cooking prawn crackers successfully. Live 8 miles from nearest Chinese.... so perhaps making them would be handy????
Suggestions appreciated.

you can buy them uncooked, from some supermarkets and most ethnic shops, they just need cooking in hot oil, either a deepfat fryer, or a wok with some oil in it...
Buy some Quavers and cover them in Talcum powder, they taste just the same
like curly says you can do it yourself. Have made them this way many moons ago and works well if the oil is hot enough.

you need a big chip pan with hot oil. and put a few of the prawn crackers (plastic like) in at a time, otherwise if you pour the whole packet... they will over flow and end up everywhere, bit like making popcorns lol.

if you dont have a chip pan, then med/big size sauce pan will do, fill with oil ( half ) and heat it up, make sure its really hot. u can test if its hot enough by putting one piece of the plastic like prawn cracker in there. if the oil is hot enough... the plastic should expand its size by double and turn into a prawn cracker within split of a second!! quickly take that out... turn the heating down, and start puting a few in the pan at a time... .. you have to be quick taking them out otherwise you'll burn them. :) they are much nice warm.
