does anyone know how far the caribbean is from the uk (preferably the north west)? how can i find out?

if someone could help i'd be so grateful, i need to know for a lesson i'm teaching tomorrow!

How can both of above be true if it is only about 130 miles by road from Montego Bay to Kingston?

Because aircraft don't fly the same as crows do.

The initial question was 'how far the caribbean is from the UK' , not how many miles do aircraft fly.
Anyway Kingston and Montego Bay are relatively close together and so I would imagine that from Manchester aircraft travelling direct would have very similar flight paths.

I have now been to http://gc.kis2.com and it gives manchester to kingston 4599 miles, not 3997.

The difference is in the units. 3997 is nautical miles, which is the usual measurement in aviation.
