is there a family scottish coat of arms for harper (sept of clan buchanan). not the english coeat of arms with the motto et sauvis et fortis(which is latin)which means pleasant and brave. i want to know if there is a gaelic version of this and a crest for them.

The right to use armoral bearings can only be granted by the College of Arms. You have to prove you are a descendant of the original bearer of the arms, it can hang on your wall as a bit of fun, but cannot be portrayed as a right or used officialy unless you have proven your descent or inheritance is legitilate and you have the tight to use it.

Just because someone with your surname was granted arms does not mean that everyone with that surname is entitled to use them
Dot (as usual) is absolutely right and the position is even stricter in Scotland. The Lord Lyon King of Arms has legal powers not available in the rest of the UK. He sits as a judge (and jury!) in his own court and adjudicates on all matters of heraldry and clan administration in Scotland. There is no Clan Harper as far as I am aware and so your normal recourse would be to wear the badge of your parent clan, Clan Buchanan.
