I'm left handed and looking to buy my first acoustic guitar. How much should I spend on a guitar that'll grow with me but not cost the earth? Should I buy wthout strings and then choose my own? What about plectrums/picks? Any other advice from 'leftie' strummers greatly appreciated. Thanks

Buy something simple first. I spent about 100-150 on my first guitar (a new Yamaha) and I still play it 10 years later. My second was 400 mail order as I had become more serious.

Should be new strings if you buy it new - they're pretty similar. (Size 10 acoustic steel string will fit)

Plectrums - all same.

Noel Gallager is left-handed but plays right-handed. Test both styles out in the shop to see what suits you.
