The BBC website now defaults to the BBCs mobile version which is a poor imitation of the 'proper BBC site. Is there anyway of fooling the BBC site so that I do not get the mobile version?

Fooling it: no, not with the level of control you have over Mobile Safari.

But there's a link right at the bottom of the page to 'goto desktop site'.

There's also an option for this in the preferences, at the bottom of the page too. Presumbly this is meant to set this effect? (Just tried it now, and it doesn't seem to.)
