my daughter bought this off someone who had just bought a newer version, my son borrowed it without permission and has just phoned to say that it wont charge, hence, one grumpy daughter. has anybody had this problem. Thanks in advance to bring peace to this household

are they charging at home or in the car? in the car, there should be a light on the plug(??) that goes in the cigarette lighter, and one on the unit. are either on?

He has tried both with no luck, and of course my daughter is demanding a new one from her brother, and he has no intention of buying her one lol

What kind of household is this where your son STEALS his sister's equipment, breaks it & then refuses to replace it with new gear? I know what he'd get from me.

a normal household, and she does go down to his bedroom ( he lives in the cellar ) and "borrows" dvd's and doesn't return them!!

Sorry tinkie, to me that is not normal behaviour,I was brought up to respect other people's property & not just help yourself whenever you feel like it.

Has your daughter only recently bought the tomtom, has she previously charged it herself? If not, it might have been faulty when she bought it.

I get the feeling you are right, I suspect it was faulty, I know my son wouldn't deliberately break it, I don't know whether to buy another charger or am I throwing good money away for nothing

It`s difficult to say, it could be the battery itself, and not the charger, it may have had it`s lifetime and will no longer charge. Do you know anyone who has same charger, then you could try that.
I really can`t see what harm your son could have done to it.
