The whey-faced fool has extended his name in an effort to distance himself from the drug-addled micro-selling super-hip junkie idol that he was, and attain a new level of 'cred'.

My view - you can call an ass a horse, but it won;t shorten its ears!

My question - what would you buy Pete(r) for Crhistmas?

Top of my list would be a nail brush!

Have you seen how filthy his hands always are? I wonder how Kate Moss ever allowed them near her!

So what do you think Pete needs at this year-end?

Credibitlity?

Can you buy that using a visa? ;0)

I think generally drugs and music (art in general really) often go hand in hand and as most don't set out to be role models you have to try and seperate them a bit but also it's a chicken and egg situation too. Are they good because of the drugs or did their experiences on drugs make them good? Personally I don't think either is the answer. I think that generally very artisitic people are naturally a bit screwy and while I'm very fond of this trait in people it can also lead to a bit of a subversive personality... I know what I mean but I hope it makes sense to others!

I'm not a fan of Pete and I don't actually think he's very talented but that's my opinion. Someone like whatsherface (they tried make me go to rehab lady) I think is very talanted vocally and her lyrics are actually wonderful in places but she'd be a good example of what I said up there ^^^

I actually came down to post in Music myself as it goes.... I've got tickets to see Elbow on 14th March and I'm very excited! :c)

I must brush up my typing skills China (good morning!)

I agree - it's never possible tp pin down whether drugs are the result or the cause of creativity - I think it's different for individuals.

I agree that Amy Winehouse is massively talented, and hopefully edging away from being a tabloid obsession and back to the superlative writer and singer that she has always been.

BTW - if anyone doubts my opinion of AW - listen to 'Love's A Loosing Game' and note that George Michael - who knows about these things - reckons she is one of the finest singers of her generation.
Lol! 'Credibility' is what I'd buy him you doughnut not a pop at your spelling... I wouldn't have a leg to stand on going down that road! ;0)

Amy WHitehouse! That's the bird... See now I think she's quite a disturbed individual but damn her lyrics are good... I'm not even taht blown away by her voice to be honest. I just like the songs and the lyrics.

Bill Hicks... There's another not very happy chap but the best comedian bar none I've ever head (too young to have seen alas) and one of the most inspired men too.

Then if you think back to the days when artists were lopping off their ears or being thought of as mad (when they were probably bi polar or something)... I think to start something new you have to have a different perspective so therefore could be interpreted as 'screwy' (my but I'm good with words eh?!)

That lead singer from Elbow too... I only know that I like their songs, I don't know much about them as a band, I only knew they existed because an ex of mine was very keen on them. But again, listening to the lyrics and the sound I'm guessing he's had a rough time at some point.

Either that or I'm the screwy one and am noticing screwiness everywhere!

Yup - although the link has been taken down, I know what you mean!
My take on this:

Babyshambles. The most over rated/over hyped band since The Darkness (not much of an act to follow I admit).

Doherty. Ditto, but add in biggest waste of human skin in the history of music. Nothing, fresh or original, got famous as a result of one (average) single then failed to live up to any semblance of expectation some fool in an A&R dept in a record company had in him.

Morphed into a criminal junkie-thug who shafted his mates via burglary etc in order to fund his 'habit'.

So what does Peter need at this year's end?

A. Probably an enema.

B. To get over himself.

C. To stop being a drain on the laughable 'criminal justice system' and do the world a favour, if you get my drift.
