me again x My chickens have caught scally leg mite from our new rescue chook, they were seperated for 2 weeks to ensure she had no problems that could be passed on, and didnt appear to have any real problems, appart from being mistreated so i put her in with the others.
Now i have noticed all of them have raised leg scales, i have started immersing their legs in baby oil to suffocate the mites, but is there anyone who has had the same problem? and is there a more effective method of treatment that will cure the problem and help the scales to repair?
I dont want my ladies to be uncomfortable!!!

Ivermectin will clear up any mites. Is is a systemic drench (gets taken up in the blood stream) so works gradually. It has to be carefully diluted to suit chooks, for which your vet will probably charge a bit.
Alternatively, you could try a
scaley leg spray which is easy to apply and obtain.
