I didn't know where best to put this, but you CBer's usually come up with the goods :o)

my gas bill has just arrived. I'm sure they've billed me for the whole street! (it's from a reading, not an estimate.)

how do I find the best deal, or are they really pretty much all the same? I'm with British Gas (they're my electricity supplier too) and pay by direct debit.

thank you.

Wendila....that all depends on what heating system you have. I think it's cheaper to keep the old style boilers on continuously on low but not with a combi.

thank you all... sorry, have got caught up on the phone with work issues, but will be back shortly!
Hi all, mine was very high too, in fact I thought it was a mistake at first or they'd estimated me too high. Turns out it was an actual reading and it was right!! I know there has been a lot in the press about high energy prices but this is the first time I have noticed such a hike in my bills. I am with N-Power after going on a comparison site last year when I put my gas with them as well. At the time it was the best deal but, as someone else said on here, they are all the same. Also, I have my heating on very low and on a timer, prefering to wrap up more if I'm cold, but it's made no difference.
bloody hell!!!

some of you pay an awful lot, baring in mind i live in a flat but still....

i'm with southern energy, this guy came round about a year ago, normally id say im not interested but i heard him out and switched suppliers and now i pay around 20 a month for gas, and around 30 a month for electric

southern energy supply gas/electic to all the the big companies, well this is the way he explained it, so your cutting out the middle man so to speak and it has been cheaper for the past year! im well made up,

not sure the inns and outs but look them up and see what you can do

well thanks again all. I tried a comparison site and it said British Gas was best for me (who I'm with!), but paperless billing. I'm not sure that I can save that much by not receiving bills but I'll give them a call.

no wonder the elderly are freezing to death :o/
i'm sorry your cold sara but didn't realise you are elderly. You somehow sound younger in your posts.

PAY MY BILL!

hmm... this is sounding like prostitution now :o/
Let us know when you do BOGOF!
Try an online trariff they are sometimes cheaper, and that way you can at least see what you are using by entering your readings on line, I do mine weekly so you know exactly what you have used, paid etc.,
