does anyone know what the name leibensperger is? i always thought it to be german, now i'm hearing swiss! i'm confused!

I actually don't know where this name comes from, but it could very well be swiss. Switerland has 4 official languages, including german ( it is actually a form of german that is spoken , called "Swiss German" , although "normal" german is spoken in the press and TV ). Other official languages are french, italian and "romanche" ( very small minority). That's why a large number of Swiss people have a german sounding name. Hope this helps...
Yes, those languages being spoken in the appropriate parts of Switzerland, the German-Swiss being near the German border. There's much interchange between inhabitants near the borders of any country, after all.
