If the evidence or arguement is convincing. yes why not?
Yes, Peter Hichens (I know it scared me too) on Question Time swayed from indifference to pro monarchy.
Dependant on the subject matter and also on the way the argument / discussion is put forward.

Sometimes the message can get lost in the anger, but other times the message can change your perspective on things.

There are no hard and fast rules really.
If we are talking personally - yes. I am more than willing to listen to another's point of view and potentially, be swayed.

Professionally, no. I have instructions and those are what I must argue however compelling the other side's case may be.
I found the Fitna video by Geert Wilders on Youtube disturbing and have yet to hear it decried by our resident muslim Abers. Preferably I would feel more secure if I were certain I was hearing from female muslims about this video - am sick of the misogynest muslim men.

C'mon muslim ladies - there's my challenge?

Of course. If someone can put an debate over in such a way that it makes sense, then I'll listen, and consider their opinions. If I'm wrong about something, then I'll back down gracefully and acknowledge the fact.
If I KNOW something to be right, wild horses wouldn't make me change my mind.
I've also learnt a lot from listening to people and having had a good education.
