I declared SORN a while back and want to tax the car for March. If I tax the car two days before 1st of March, i.e. 27th Feb, can I use the car straight away or have to wait till 1st of March?

Well what do you think? - that you can have 2 days road fund duty for free?
A vehicle must either be SORNed or taxed. If it is SORNed it isn't allowed on the road. If it is taxed it can go on the road.
If you apply for a licence from 1st March, that's when it goes on the road. If you want to use it before 1st March, you will have to apply for and tax it from 1st February - it works in monthly buckets.
This happened to me last year when I bought a car that needed a change of tax class. I went to the local office to tax it three days before the 1st March and was prepared to pay from 1st February. The clerk told me to change it to the 1st March and that it would be perfectly okay to use it on the road for the three days until then. So it seems they are not as strict as the other answer suggests.
