Nope.
I use to. I use to walk more than 8 miles a day and that was just on the school run. I've been staying at my BF's which is further so I've been getting the bus. Gosh can I feel it....!!! I think the walking will have to start again soon.
I try to walk 8-10 miles every Sunday, it takes a bit of dedication and a good talking book. I work on the 5th floor and never take the lift.

8km is quite good, about 2 laps of the cemetery, try to do it once a week. Get a pedometer too, very motivational.
10,000 paces ...

I'd guess I do that before breakfast four or five times a week.

Does it still count if you do it all in one go?

Just bought a new pedometer a decent one,it keeps a record of your daily walking and also your weeks tally!!!
I do try I must admit but I never seem to get over 3000 or thereabouts. I'm on Weight Watchers too and they promote walking and say even just going up and down the stairs at home counts...

Eash i used to walk up to 10miles a day, walking and going to the gym and using the running machines!!
Hi puddi and co, no to be honest.
I bought a pedometer and I had a devil of a job to set it up.
Then I dropped it on my first walk so I decided it wasnt meant to be and gave up.
10,000 steps per day will only do any good if it's done in one session, it won't do much if you are walking for 5 minutes and then another 5 two hours later, building up the steps that way.

You should aim to keep your heartrate up continuously for a period of at least 20 minutes, minimum of 3 times per week.

I'm currently doing my Lever 3 personal trainers course and we've been trying out a technique called "Tabata". It's great, very intensive, raises BMR and can all be done in 20 mins, can't wait to try it out on clients.
"10,000 steps per day will only do any good if it's done in one session" ...

Yaayyy !!
I used to do around 12,000 per day. I've got a bit lazy of late though :o(
I never know, when talking about steps, is 1 step just 1 step, ie move 1 leg, or is 1 step moving the first leg and then the second leg? If you see what I mean.
Yes I can see why you would be puzzled, Puzzled, it certainly is puzzling.
Get a job as a postman. Be warned tho, after 20 years your knees start to go......
I have to be in the right frame of mind to exercise.

Usually having someone to compete with helps me, for example, I was going on holiday with some friends and none oif us wanted to look bad in our bikinis so we all vowed to lose weight.

They failed miserabbly and I went from 11st 2lb at the beginning of Jan to 9st 6lb at the beginning of May.

It wasn't easy though, and i totally worked my ass off to do it.
Well, if i'm doing what I thought was 10000 steps and it turns out to be 5000...............
I remember Postdog, when I had my cleaning company some years ago, I had rather stiff, creaky knees. Anyway, we did some marketing, where we were delivering postcards advertising the business, door to door. After a week of this, up and down steps, my creaky knees were cured.
I work as a personal trainer and class instructor. One day I wore my pedometer while working. I went for a 40 minute run with a client (just over 3 miles) and taught two 1 hour body conditioning classes and a 45 minute spinning class and my pedometer said I'd only done 8,000 steps. Pedometers are great for people who are unused to exercise to monitor how much they do on a daily basis and try and improve on that over time. Don't get too worried about the 10,000 steps thing - just make sure you get hot, sweaty and out of breath for about 40 minutes every day - how you achieve that is up to you!!
