How can I get rid of an unwanted file which causes full screen pop-ups and ruins my session? I have Winpatrol, Spybot, firewall etc but this file is pernicious. I've located it on the `search' - it's called rcBuddy and is a cabinet read only file so I can't delete it. I'm not really DOS competant so can't find the pathway. I'm beginning to dread going online! It's also called `Aurora' or `Ceres'. Please help! thanks. Judith Siford in despair!

Try deleting it in "Safe Mode"  When your PC boots up keep pressing F8. You should get a black screen with some options. The one you need is usually No.1 Safe Mode. When you get to your Desktop it might look slightly different to normal but that is fine. Then locate the folder/file and see if you can get rid of it now. You might also try unchecking the "read only " box before you try and delete it. Not gauranteed to work but at leadt it will only take a couple of minutes to try.

Good Luck

If you are using internet explorer the only sure way is to reinstall Windows. You can reinstall it over the top of your existing Windows but don't be suprised that Windows will lose track of some of your drivers! In anycase make sure you have a hard copy of you modem's driver if you use one.
