Mobile Phone Contacts List

A friend of mine has been given a new mobile phone and has put his existing sim card in. Now, whenever he gets a text message from one of his contacts, the name doesnt show just the number. He tried putting his sim card into another phone to see if that would cure the problem but it was doing the same. We can only assume its the sim card but has anybody else come across this or know how to fix the problem? Many thanks

It depends how he saved his contact list on his last phone. If he didn't save it to his SIM it won't transfer to his new phone.

All phones are different and I can only speak for Nokias but if you have a double entry, ie, the same number for 2 different people OR the same number for the same person but listed as 2 different types of phone then it won't show you the name of the caller.

I'll bet that's about as clear as mud isn't it?
