I'm arriving at T5 at 6.45am (from NY, so could be +/- a bit). Based on this, will I get through T5 in time to get a National Express bus at the stop outside the terminal at 8.45am? 2 hours sounds ample to me, but just wanted anyones experience who has actually used the terminal.

yes its very quick, in my experience the flight that landed at 2.40 pm. from San Francisco, cleared customs and suitcase retrival in 30 mins. walked out of the airport at 3.15 pm.
Going by our experience you should have no problem at all......we were no more than 40 minutes from the time we landed til we were out in the car.....very quick
If it is terminal 5 then you will be out very quickly.

However your luggage will be in Rio De Janeiro !

(Only joking, I am sure they have sorted out all the T5 teething troubles by now)
no problem if you have a UK or EU passport. If you're American you will be queuing with a jumbo load of other Americans, which may take longer.
hi,
i was part of the team that designed T5- It was designed to take about 20-30mins. The average time to get through is currently about 25minutes. Unless you have immigration issues with your documents, it is VERY unlikely to take 2 hours!
Enjoy!
I agree with everyone else. We were most impressed with the speed at T5. Our suitcases were already going round and round on the belt in the luggage hall by the time we cleared passport control - and that was really swift too.
