What is the best and quickest way to clean an electric deep fat fryer - mine takes all day, bearing in mind that I unscrew the filter in the lid - and scrub like mad - obviously I do not wash the electric element - I do not have a dishwasher.  Once clean - it gets smelly after the first use.(and for all the jokers out there I do not mean a fat person who makes chips!!!)

Couldn't help smiling when I read your post, a couple of years ago I looked at my fryer and thought - God I hate cleaning this - so I wrapped it in a couple of black bin backs and threw it out, have never replaced and don't even miss it! On the few occasions when I need to deep fry something I just put some oil in a deep pan then chuck the oil out when I'm done!!

libertie - that is what I used to do - then thought I'd treat myself to an electric one - which stinks the place out, so have to use it outside (I bring it in 2 days later when smell has gone off) use a couple of times and its greasy - so back to the saucepan and oil.  We rarely have chips etc, but I feel cheated and do not want to bin it.

Hee hee ~ suppose there's always ebay!
