Another website I use is cookitsimply.com. Just looked and they have a few recipes for oxtail. Oxtail stew in red wine looked nice.

Haven't had oxtail for years. It used to be cheap to buy but not any more. Hope you enjoy.
Braised oxtail

Oxtail(s)
2 chopped leeks
3 chopped carrots
2 chopped onions
1.5 pints beef stock
0.5 pint red wine
2oz balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons oil

Brown the oxtail in the oil. Add everything else to the pan, bring to the boil and then either simmer on a low heat or put in the oven on a low heat for 6 to 8 hours. You MUST have a lid on the pan. (Ideal to make before you go to work & it will be ready for when you come home)

Serve with mash.

If you haven't got leeks/carrots etc you can improvise - last time I made it I had no leeks so I used mushrooms instead.

Thanks I'll check it out. I've never had em before and like to try different cuts.
They were 2.24 for two. I thought that was really cheap!!
They are actually quite tasty, though fidddly. When well cooked, like a lamb rack, it'll fall off the bone and be very tender.
That is cheap. I looked at Tescos. Think I might try my local butcher as you have made me fancy some now.

Jan- bought mine from our town center meat market. Its always so much cheaper and nicer than the supermarkets.

Oooooo...Spanish style with chorizo! Yum!
it's the same with all cheap cuts of meat - cook them long & slow and the meat will just fall off the bone.

Buying cheap cuts seems to have fallen out of fashion with everyone these days(apart from me!)

Sheesh, I'm beginning to sound like my mother!!! Argh!!
