Carol Thatcher made a comment yesterday off camera though while still at work. If a person took offence at that, then fair enough, there is a grievance procedure to follow.

However someone (and I presume this to be Chiles though concede it may be someone else) has made this story public.

There is absolutely no reason for this - and it again brings the BBC into the forefront in a bad way.

Should the person responsible for making this public be disciplined?

That comes from those racist pigeons in Trafalgar Square!
who are you calling vermin?
It was said to identify a group meaning 'Worker on Goverment Service'

In which case we could say it includes the whole of the Civil Service.

But then will it still be offensive to all the Civil Servants that are not white?

Why not? Can't take away one of the many sticks they have to beat our backs with.
is that a slave jibe? thats not fair really mate is it?
Yes, AOG. Of course. When people refer to w0gs, they're talking about civil servants.

Irrespective of the origin of the word, can you see that it has taken on a different meaning? Even though you fear change, can you still see that meaning can evolve over time?
evolve - the evolution theory with the monkey diagram is an interesting theory indeed
anyway besides the point - Adrian Childs shold be sacked for being brummie and having that annoying accent....

how dare him present MOTD 2
AOG

If someone wants to say that a black tennis player looks like a golliwog, then she should be able to take it back.

I would never dream of taking the mickey out of someone unless they proved that they were the kind of person who could take a dig. Thatcher obviously can, can't she.

And she looks like a fella.

Hands up who disagrees.

First there was Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, then Dustin Hoffman, then Robin William and now Carol Thatcher. They all look fairly convincing dressed as women despite their stubble.

See...not particularly funny, and not something someone should say out loud because it's just insulting.

You see what I mean? I could've said that as a joke, and like Thatcher, I should criticised for it.
I once had drinks with Adrian and I have to say he's one of the nicest celebs I've ever met. Really down to earth chap.

I hope it was him who grassed up Ms Thatcher.
Difference is sp that if the likes of her say offensive things, she gets pulled over coals for it, but you can be as offensive as you wish, and get away scot free.
It is worth noting that Mr Chiles mother was an immigrant, so he could he could possibly have encountered thoughtless and ill judged comments himself.
AOG

She should be hauled over the coals. She's a bloke trying to pass as a lady.

That's fraud.

No, seriously - I wouldn't say anything like that unless she opened herself abuse. I wouldn't just randomly have a pop at her.

What you're saying is unfair to a large degree and I'll show you why...imagine a black fella is walking down the road and and an overweight white bloke shouts racist abuse at him.

If the black chap turned around and called his a fat b*****d, you would then have a go at the black fella saying "Oh it's alright for you to be abusive, but not for the white fella".

Well, if the white fella opened the batting, you can't blame the other person for bowling back at him.

Now then, Gromit and AOG - Kiss and make up , or i'll take away your computers !!!
Think about the widthdrawal symptoms , not being able to post on here
