Do the hand wringers on this site believe that these workers are racist, or are they beginning to realise that in times like this UK workers should be the first in line for jobs?

123everton there are lots of people working for less than the minimum wage. if you are illegally in the country or on a fiddle you are not going to shout about it.

Don't remember protests like this when British workers get contracts abroad (e,g as builders in Germany) Is it one rule for us in Europe but a different rule for every other EU state? If so, why is that right? We are governed by exactly the same law and rule that governs the other EU states viz freedom of labour within the EU. We have to play by the rules just as they do.As far as we are concerned these workers are not "foreign". They are Europeans, from within the EU.Might as well get upset if workers from Grangemouth (or Belfast, come to that) were working on the site in Lincolnshire, "depriving" Lincolnshire men of jobs!

This contract, awarded by the UK subsidiary of a French company, was won by Italians and the workers are Italian and Portuguese..(It's a wonder that people on this site don't complain that a French business shouldn't be in Britain at all LOL)
AOG

I surf this site every day - almost all of the subject areas, and the only time you post is when you appear to have had your nationalist sensibiloities offended - which is quite often - but that is all you seem to post about.

Surely you have wider interests than some small-minded nationalist paranoia?

Would be nice to see you in 'Music' or 'Body and Soul' now and again, talking about something other than the foreigners who upset you so much.

Food for thought?
Careful andy. Don't want people in 'music 'complaining that foreign orchestras are coming over here, stealing our jobs, or saying that the BBC should honour its British title and not play music performed or written by foreigners !
You mean something like...

"Why aren't those slendid Black and White Minstrel Shows on the televisionanymore. Is it political Correctness gone mad?
it is ok andy having a joke about this but you wait and see.
it will not be long and one of the premiership teams will sign a foreign player.

If the Italian company had employed British workers it could have saved a million pounds or more off the Benefits bill each year [100 benefit x 200 employees x 52 weeks], still us tax payers don't mind paying these workers to stay on the dole do we?

Most of the supermarket jobs we keep hearing about are part-time only.
A proper newspaper,in this case The Times, puts this story into context. The law is in the EU Posting of Workers Directive. This allows an EU firm to employ its own staff, on a temporary basis, in another EU state. The conditions are that the contract is of limited duration and that the employer abides by local employment regulations.About 1 million people in the EU are working under the directive.

Total says that all IREM staff have the same pay and working conditions agreed as the existing contractor workforce. This contract was put out to tender to both British and continental firms. (The Times believes that the foreign workers got the work because they have very specific skill in the oil-refining business) the company says that no "direct redundancies " of British workers were caused by the contract being so placed.

ghetto poet

Incidently, this name could be offensive to anyone that might have been forced to live in a Jewish ghetto during WW2)

i was on google earth today and think i found the coordinates to AOGs house.

It would seem that these dirty hanwringing leffties such as getto post, are very keen to defend anyone who is not of the white majority, against anything that might in the least offend them, and yet they are not in the least bothered offending white people calling them Nazis, racists etc, etc.

Or is it ok to offend posters on this site that don't agree with their twisted political views. How do they know that those at the receiving end of their snide remarks and sick postings, were not victims of the Nazis?

I have tried to do a google earth search myself but I am afraid it does not pick up individual rocks, from where getto poet must crawl from.
Have they really taken british jobs? the work was put out to tender a british firm did not win that tender, when british firms win contracts abroad they take the work force they have with them, is it ok for us british to go and work anywhere else in the world but nobody can come here? my brother in law is always working abroad and has done for the last 20 years, he has worked in germany, saudi arabia, canada, jamaica, and lots of other places should he be stopped? what about when all thye british construction workers went to germany and arabia? didn't hear anybody saying that was wrong, did anybody??

andy-hughes I do not need the likes of you suggesting on what topics I post, this is still a free country.

It would seem that my posts must upset you so much, but of course you still hold the freedom of choice whether to read my posts or not.
laughable we all have let this happen,

we all should have the chance to work all over the world but in the end when things start to go wrong then close the doors until next time when things get better,
im not a patrriot im a normal man who sees that this is wrong total are betraying the uk working people and labour should of stopped this from happening in these hard times im not racist im a normal working man who sees this is not right.
when communities at the momment are seeing mass unemployment then then this is wrong.
labour should of closed the doors to immigration whilst we are in hard times end of
stuff europe
they wonder why they will not get back in power next time ???????

Just popped into 'Body & Soul' and 'Music' out of curiosity.

Not much of interest in 'Body & Soul', just a load of people talking about their ailments, just as you would get in a woman's magazine. Noticed you have not posted in the first 20.

What about 'Music'? This is this is nearly as riveting (I don't think). Incidently I did notice you had at least posted one question, and got one answer.(Yawn)

I think I will stick to 'News' thank you.
