Does the clue mean to Put someone off from doing something or to Put off doing something until later

To be brutally honest I think it could be either. I have gone with deter myself but your argument can not be faulted. Rubbish clue :o)
I have put defer and am loathe to change it.

Thanks to kalahari and jobjockey.

I have decided to take the first answer received which was from kalahari. I agree with you (Rubbish Clue) Knowing my luck it will probablt be the other answer. A bit like 'Deal or No Deal'
Why not just put both answers? What I've done is to draw a diagonal line through the square, from top right to bottom left,, dividing it into half, and put "F" into one half and "T" into the other.
