Oh heck! Guess what I saw on the news lunchtime today. They say that Jonathan Ross is coming back to our tv screens after a 3 month suspension.I can't believe 3 months has gone by so quick. Well ,I will be one viewer who will be switching off, or switching to a different channel when he appears on our tv screen.I bet the BBC has saved quite a bit of money since Jonathan Ross left 3 months ago.Surely the BBC didn't pay him for those 3 months!!! It's no wonder the TV licence is so high.We are paying for all these blooming tv presenters and hosts. Why don't the BBC lower their salary a bit?
ITV have lowered the salary of Ant & Dec.
I just hope that Wossie will learn from his mistake...... What are your comments?..........

Rosetta - I'm a big Blues fan as well. I used to go to the Blues night every month when I was working in Leeds - not much of that goes on in sleepy Worcestershire though.
Legend - how dare you talk about my mate sach's dad like that!!
Way back then you could see groups locally, none of this huge arena bollox. I can remember seeing Cream, Jethro Tull, Fleetwood Mac, The Animals and quite a few others

Sorry to pinch your thread imhotep, I'm just on a nostalgia trip.lol
I saw the Animals at the Colston Hall in Bristol back in 1964. They played this song and said that it was to be their new record - it literally brought the house down, so you can guess what it was.
House of the rising sun???
House of the rising sun?
Of course.

Found this via google:

Also in 1964, Chuck Berry started his first U.K. tour in London, supported by the Animals, Carl Perkins and the Nashville Teens.
Great eh. House of the Rising Sun is a classic. Was it really 1964, gawd. I think it must have been 67 when I saw Alan price in Torquay, I think by that stage they were going their separate ways.

I did have some old American Blues records, Sonny Boy Williamson for one, but they got scratched and ditched. I wish I had taken better care of them.
Sorry to harp on, But I saw Sonny Boy, Lightning Hopkins and a host of others on tour around the same time.

Do you think today's kids will be saying that in 45 years time?
Sorry no, but i love seasick steve have so seen him yet dave!!
Sorry, no puudi

Just thinking of those I have seen recently - Robert Cray, Walter Trout, and (many times) Paul Jones , both with the Blues Band and the Manfreds
Lucky you, Big Dave .

I suppose every generation thinks their music is the best but I cant see as many today that have or will pass the test of time like the sixties era

Cripes!!
Looks like my thread has gone down nostalgia lane...
No problem Rosetta, I like the groups you mentioned earlier anyway......

I will be heading off soon.
I keep meaning to document all the gigs I went to - Gene Vincent, Brenda Lee, Bobby Vee, Clarence Frogman Henry, The Springfields (when Dusty was still a brunette), Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee, Fats Domino, Duane Eddy, Little Richard, The Everlies, Ray Charles, BB KIng.......

It was the best era ever, and will never happen again.

Anyone that was around when Rock'n'Roll burst on to the music scene will never forget it.
For us oldies Big Dave

When I said that this was to be played at my funeral, my mum, bless her, said - "well I won't be going then"
