3 Months ago I was talked into going to Australia by some close friends.
I booked the flight for the 9th Feb. because I thought the sale of my property was going through and I also had a second rental income.
Firstly the sale didn't go through with the first property then my lodgers in the second property decided not to pay their rent and moved out because the flat is full of Damp
(Faulty roof) .I got into a bit of a state and my father witnessed this and he has lent me 1500. Plus given me a bit more. My Mother also gave me money at Xmas in order for me to get out of trouble.
How do I tell them I am going to Australia for three weeks on their money? When I have all these other problems.
They know my difficult situation and I don't want to loose their love and respect.
I am scared if my father finds out about the Australia trip that he will disown me.
There is only one person that knows about the trip and she is threatening to tell them.
I have no money at the moment and I have to use a credit card to live. I owe about 5000 to a decorator and there seem to be continuous depts. arising. I have a bit of work to improve things but that still doesn't help the fact that I would be holidaying my parent's generosity Please help me make a decision.

Do I just not go and loose the 800?
Do I go ,and then lie about where I Am.?
Do I tell my father and risk him having a heart attack! ?

Away from the original q (to which my answer is dont go), but NOSHA, i think your dad is beng very unrealistic - you cant give a present of money and expect someone to spend it on what YOU want them to - you might have well just bought them whatever it was you wanted them to get!
I know but my Dad is a right softie and would want you to go out and really enjoy getting something just lovely with the money... rather than using it to pay off boring bills.... he gave it to us to have fun with and to get something for it rather than a clear credit card to just run back up again!

I told him I would save my 1000 as we are thinking about getting 2 new pedigree kittens later this year.... so I have opened a 'kitten' fund.... which he was fine with!

the comparison I was making was that dyslexicme's parents gave the money specifically as they could see she was in a mess and wanted to (as parents do) help her to get straight again. And I think they would be really upset if she lied to them and went off to Oz.
I also think - that if I were to go to Oz... then I would want to go knowing I have money in my bank to spend while out there without having to scrimp and scrape.
Its an awful long way to go to realise you cant afford to do x y or z!
What did the decorator do for 5k?? paint the Forth bridge for you ??

I think i will re train as a decorator ......

Anyway back to the original question, I would try and offload it or explain to your friends your predicament and they may (if they have means) agree to pay for your food and drink , but they would have to be really good friends, then perhaps next year when you have sorted and sold bits , you can repay them . I wud also be upfront with your parents and agree to pay them back as quick as possible, You do only pass this way once , its your call!!
are you going to update us and tell us what you decided?
