Have you disabled it? On mine it is FN and F7, yours may be different

Ethel,

according to the icons under the F's i assume its F1, because it shows a square with a finger pointing to it. but i pressed Fn with F1, still nothing :(

Hmmm.

Windows key and pause/break should bring up your
system properties.

Click the 'device manager' tab and scroll down to 'mice and other pointing devices'. Double click.

Click on the touchpad, click 'driver' and 'update driver'

Ethel,

nope nothing :( ohh well.
Have you downloaded the driver? What did it say in your device manager?
mine has a little blue light on the touchpad surround, and there is a small button next to it which disables the touchpad, and the light goes red.. and it freezes.

well i tried to reinstall the touchpad with the device drivers * utilities disk, thought it was a sucess but although it added the device back on the Mice and other pointing devices section... theres a yellow exclaimation mark next to it, when i double click it it says

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

im so sure its to do ith Vista update !!!!

sara i have no light nx to this laptop. oh well onna to bed now and fix it tomz

thanks for trying though guys :) most appreciated x
i had to do a system restore after this same thing happened yesterday after microsoft updates were done. use your windows key to get to system restore, select the restore point which was created prior to the updates being installed. this restored my touch pad.
