does anyone know if the stuff from Next is generous or skimpy?

my mum wants to buy my daughter some funky trainers for her birthday and she is almost a nine and a half (daughter not mum!). As Next don't do half sizes, i wondered if a 9 would be ok as 10 would be too big. We didn't really want to take her to try on as they will be a surprise. Anyone have any experience of this?

I think the stuff from Next is pretty generously sized. I am a size 3.5 or 4 in shoes, I bought some size 3.5 recently and they are a little big. I find their clothes quite big-sized too.
Have you a spare shoe that fits your daughter that you could take with you to Next and put it sole to sole on the trainers you want to buy? Or get your daughter to stand on some card and draw a line at her heel and her toe line, cut to size and slip in the trainers in Next.
Wouldn't NEXT change them if they were the wrong size.
I tend to think that shoes should always be tried on as it's the shape as well as the size that determines the fit.

all good suggestions - thanks. The thing is my mum's housebound and so she wanted to order from t'internet!

After reading this, she's ordered a 9 and i know they'll take them back if they're not right. Once my daughter tries them on, though, she wouldn't tell me if they were too small!

Next is generous size's i have a sister 7yrs old and she doesnt need anything bigger than her size! hope this helps x
