The police were searching the grass opposite my house yesterday, they were armed and doing a very thorough search. I have heard from several people that they found a body stuffed in a wheely bin but I also heard that they just found drugs and ammunition. Would the police tell me which it was if I phoned them as I am currently living in my house by myself and I'm a bit concerned if it was a murder!

As far as I am aware this depends on what information is currently public knowledge.
They may not give out any information until they have found out more themselves.
Plus....the police arent as helpful as they should be (Yes I am bitter, for several reasons)...that's me putting it nicely.
Also....don't get yourself worried about what you hav heard....it could be chinese whispers. People tend to make up what they don't know, or add to what they have heard.....until you know the facts try not to worry.

Thanks. I'm trying to ignore any rumours but several people have said the same thing and my imagination runs wild at night as it is without anything like this going on! Also would it not have been on the news by now if they had found a body?
I would tune into your local radio station or ring them and ask, they may know more
It may be that the police will come and ask you if you saw anything or it may be in the local press.

I remember coming home one night and the ginnel down the side of the park I lived on was sealed off, as was the whole park, with police , dogs and forensics everywhere.

I had to sign in and out for a week but at first, the police would only give very limited information, just that there had been a nasty assault at first.

I was worried sick as I was looking after 4 houses and about 13 tenants and managed to track down all but one and it took us a while to get hold of her.

We only found out the details (nutter with two knives stabbed a woman 7 times) when the police started doing doing interviews but moreso when it was in the local press.
Information is not always given to the press. It depends on the circumstances, how far along 'investigations' are, and if they have identified a body (if one was found!).
I know it is hard but try not to worry about it. I know the feeling though.

From what I can see, the area isn't sealed off either which makes me think maybe that wasn't what it was. Unless they managed to sort it out before I got home from work.

Thanks MiniMadTez, you're making me feel a bit better about it all! Its hopefully all rumours and I'll wonder why I got so worked up!
When the incident about happened it was sealed off for about a week as we had to sign in and out everyday to say who we were and where we were going etc...

We even had a mobile police station set up and numerous interviews and some of the lads had their DNA and fingerprints taken.

The reaction made us think something horrific had happened, not that what happened wasn't, but to this day I have a feeling there was more to it than was ever put in the papers etc...

I hate to be a cynic and a sad state of affairs but I never expected that kind of reaction for what they said it was considering some of the things i've seen around here.
