i was wondering whether anybody knew what the top speed of the flightless bird the kiwi was, running across the ground. if anyone has any ideas or concrete evidence it would be much appreciated. thanks.

Apparently, they're agile little *******, though I was unable to find numbers to clarify just how so. They aren't found often in the wilds anymore, but I imagine a call or email to any of New Zealand's conservation organizations could put you in touch with a researcher who could give you hard numbers.

thankyou man. i wasn't expecting an answer at all, its been so long since i posted the question. helpful in my quasi scientific. are humans actually doing well in the biped speed stakes. if you take into account size etc. i have too much time on my hands : )
