can you bake pastry using a large frying pan with a lid

i ask because i dont own an oven

yes, if making a pie roll out the pastry place on the hot frying pan then place the apples or whatever the filling is brush round the edges with milk then a 2nd layer of pastry ,press round the edges to seal in the filling .When you think that the bottom layer is cooked, put a plate over the pan invert it and slide the pie back to cook the top layer,THEN USE YOUR JUDGEMENT as to when it is cooked,or just make a smaller pie and cook as before turning as before halfway to cook the top layer
