Well ethel as ive now proven that the original written version of leonard cohens song wasnt actually recorded for the studio , but is different in any live recordings maybe you could explain if its the original 15 verse version of cohens or the 4 verse on popularised by john cale and then recorded by buckley , that youre on about?

Or are you perhaps just being pedantic , as i so correctly ponted out , earlier in the thread?

Thank you for giving this so much of your attention tho : 0)
And you better correct puddicat whilst your on a pedantic trip
",but there is the orginal song writers version, the great leonard cohen,"

DID THAT HELP ???

HALLELUJAH

ALLLELUJAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I think every version of this song is cack.

I can't abide it.
I really don't like the X-Factor girls version of the song, I like though and think she deserved to win.

I like the Rufus Wainwright version. :)

rufus is very good
Hi puddicat, I think that whilst the song is a bit dire and maudling (no offence to Leonard Cohen!) Rufus' version is full of emotion and thats why I like it :)
for the hard of thinking

the song in shrek is actually john cale and not rufus wainwright.

his version us on the soundtrack album but not in the movie

so its not actually his version ( if i can use that word without riling anyone ) bbutactually john cales rendition which i find far better than leonard cohens rendition originally

ffs tony stay away from the razor blades

id gladly impale my testes with a kebab skewer rather than listen to cohens suicidal dire attempt

in my opinion of course

may i just point out that leonard cohen was in manchester for a while ( art display) , he stated that he had spent over 5 years writing halleujah and the song had over 80 verses

Of official versions, Buckley's without a doubt (although not his best song in my opinion, that award goes to LAst Goodbye). I always like to hear that lovely lad, James Walsh sing it, hes got a belting voice.
I like Rufus' version.

You started a mass debate there puddi LOL each to their own :)
I have seen Len live twice this year. Fantastically uplifting gig by the way.

My vote has to go to Len.
