Title and author required please

A friend read a book which was about two american army snipers who end up having a duel in the woods in America. Not much to go on I'm afraid but any help much appreciated.

I read (and must still have somewhere) a book with a similar plot. But in this book there was one American and one Russian - but it was set in American woods.
Think the title was White Star, cannot remember author.
