Hi Guys,

One of my colleagues is 3 months pregnant and unfortunately is in the early stages of a cold. She's been drinking hot fruit juice but it doesn't seem to be helping much.

Does anyone know of any other safe remedies she can try?

Thanks very much!

Inhalation of Olbas oil in hot water should be safe but the best port of call for advice is your local Pharmacist
it does not work for me but my sister and her family swear by hot honey and lemon. She squeezes half a lemon into a mug, adds a spoonful of honey and some warm water. Drink as much as you can manage throughout the day. My friend is due a baby in February and another said 'poor so and so she is so unwell and nothing she can take' I suggested this and she was feeling better within the day. As I say does not work for all but worth a try.
i agree with the honey & lemon thing. works a treat. to be honest most cold remedies don't work awfully well anyway, but its the psychological factor of knowing we've taken something that makes us feel better. keeping one's fluids up and taking rest is the most important thing, pregnant or not.
I've been told by a midwife, I can take only Paracetamol and Simple Linctus. Nothing with Ibuprofen of Decongestants.

The sensible thing would be for her to just phone her surgery and ask or her local pharmacy.
I would get something natural from a health shop.
