Is putting something in your boss's drink at the Christmas do grounds for instant dismissal?

Don't know exactly what it was, but it was some kind of viagra type stimulant, purchased from a vending machine in the ladies toilet at the function (!!!) and it was put in a cocktail. Boss has a heart problem. Could have been very dangerous...

Same experience here, Tiggs, my friend had hers spiked and she passed out in the middle of the pub too. We were the only 2 females in a group of friends, the rest were rugby players (so pretty big lads), I was baffled as to why anyone would do that to her knowing they'd never get her alone to lead her away and rape her. I asked the paramedic this and his words were "there's a spate of this right now, they're somewhere in the crowd (rubber neckers) loving the reaction she's having to the drug, they get a kick out of it".

How sick.

She was taken to hospital and she came round a few hours later. She didn't know where she was, was scared, couldn't remember anything from the previous pub we'd been at and was upset. The nurse was mean to her and would not believe she hadn't taken drugs of her own accord. Neither of us have ever touched drugs.

I think the one who's idea it was would have let him drink it... she v vindictive person, had major screaming match with another employee during party too, assistant manager had to separate them...

She's very silly, cos if he's got grounds to sack, and he does, she gonna lose 15 years redundancy...
If they did it with the intent of causing harm then I have no sympathy for them..

Amyl nitrite - poppers - can be bought over the bar in some places. It's a short-lasting stimulant, but can be dangerous in certain cases.
If your boss's drink really was spiked, then I'd say it's a suspension at the very least - if he takes it further.
Stupid thing to do. This person should get the boot.
You can't drink that?!?! That would BURN!

Thanks for your answers, all. I think boss will not take further (he's a bit, umm, well not a very bossy boss, if you know what i mean, a bit push-over-ish) Still don't think she should get off with no punishment at all. But thanks for replies anyway.
