I'm not sure about this one. I think 39A is the first word of the phrase in the preamble (8,5,9) after be original answer is jumbled, and from the clue appears to be an anagram of circle, e and t. I have the other two words which makes me think I am right. I may be completely wrong though.

Ardboe, actually a female reader is lectrice and this has to be entered in the grid jumbled. So I was correct in that it is the first word of the phrase 8,5,9 to be highlighted in the grid.
