hi people out there can anyone help me,my tap only turns a little bit so the water only trickles out,will l need a new tap?thanks for any advise

probably not, take the tap top off, unscrew the tap assembly and give it a good clean, it may benefit from a new washer and perhaps 're-seating' while its apart.

In order to fit a new washer, you may have to turn the water off at the mains.... (just trying to prevent a flood in the Shanks household here lol). The stopcock may well be under the sink - it looks like a little valve and needs to be turned off before you start undoing taps etc.
